Our 1 Leg Adjustable Tripod Ladder is designed to keep you safe when working at heights on slightly uneven ground.
The Henchman 1 Leg Adjustable Tripod Ladder adjustable rear leg adjusts independently up to 18 inches (45cm) to accommodate for slightly sloped surfaces.
Our ladders are built to last. Professionally hand welded and tested by British Standards Institution (BSI) to conform to BS EN 131-2:2010+A2:201
Henchman’s 1 Leg Adjustable Tripod Ladder is ideal for working at height on slightly sloping and flat ground, both indoors and outdoors.
The unique tripod design can be safely placed on any flat or slightly sloping ground. The rear leg can be adjusted up to 18inches (45cm) to lean forward and backwards, allowing for slight slopes in the direction that the ladder is facing. As long as all three feet are in contact with the ground, your ladder won’t wobble.
The 1 Leg Adjustable Tripod Ladder also features a 7” / 18cm deep platform rung designed to make standing more comfortable while you work. When standing on the platform, you can tuck your knees into the frame for extra stability, allowing you to use both hands safely as you work.
The platform sits at the top 3ft / 0.9m of the ladder’s full height - no matter what size your ladder is. For example, if you have the 8ft / 2.4m ladder, the platform sits at 5ft / 1.5m high. This means when you’re standing on the platform, you’re standing 5ft / 1.5m above the ground.
When standing on the platform, the remaining 3ft / 0.9m of the ladder’s length is designed specifically to give your legs room to tuck into the frame. This provides you with more stability while working. This unique design also prevents you from bashing your shins on the rung above whilst working.
Note: If the ground you’re working on is very uneven, or you require a ladder with more adjustability, the 3 Leg Adjustable Tripod Platform Ladder or the Adjustable Platform Step Ladder will better suit your needs.
All sizes provided are with the extendable leg fully retracted.
To avoid ordering the wrong sized ladder, it’s important you know exactly how high you need to reach before you order.
For example, if you’re using your ladder to trim hedges, we suggest picking one that’s more or less the same height as that hedge. Measuring the hedge height before you order will ensure you choose the right size.
Ladder Size | Platform Height | Hip Level | Reaching Overhead |
---|---|---|---|
6ft / 1.8m | 3ft / 0.9m | 6ft / 1.8m | 10ft / 3.0m |
8ft / 2.4m | 5ft / 1.5m | 8ft / 2.4m | 12ft / 3.6m |
10ft / 3m | 7ft / 2.1m | 10ft / 3m | 14ft / 4.2m |
12ft / 3.6m | 9ft / 2.7m | 12ft / 3.6m | 16ft / 4.8m |
The height of our ladders is the total height from the very bottom to the very top of the ladder with the leg fully retracted. For example, our 6ft / 1.8m ladder measures 6ft / 1.8m tall.
The 1 adjustable leg tripod ladder’s platform sits 3ft / 0.9cm from the top of the ladder. When standing on this, the top of your ladder will be in line with your waist. That means, if you have a 6ft / 1.8m ladder, your waist will also be at 6ft / 1.8m.
Your shoulders will be approximately 2ft/60cm higher than your waist. We always recommend working between your waist and shoulder height. This will give you a working height range of 6-8ft / 1.8-2.4m, waist to shoulder level.
So, if you need to reach between 6-8ft / 1.8-2.4m, our 6ft / 1.8m will suit your needs perfectly.

It’s simple, really. The 1 Leg Adjustable Tripod Ladder provides wobble-free stability because all three feet always remain in contact with the ground.
By adjusting the back leg individually you can counteract a gentle slope towards or away from your working area. The ladder’s claw-like feet grip soft ground to add extra stability, and stop the ladder from sinking.
The tripod ladder’s standing platform provides a safe place for your feet while you work. You can tuck your knees into the frame for extra stability, allowing you to use both hands safely as you work.
Yes. Our 1 Adjustable Leg Tripod Ladders work brilliantly indoors when purchased with the optional rubber feet. These improve the grip on flat, hard surfaces and also protect delicate floors from being scratched by the ladder’s clawed feet.
If you’re planning to use your tripod ladder at work, for example as a gardener or tree surgeon, then we do suggest you consider our Professional 3-leg adjustable tripod platform ladder instead.
While similar to our standard tripod ladder model, our professional tripod ladder is made from thicker aluminium and is built to better withstand regular use and transit. This makes it far more resistant to frequent use over the years. Plus, for businesses claiming back on VAT, the extra cost of our professional tripod ladder can be easily recovered.
The professional tripod ladder also has three adjustable feet, making it far better suited to a range of different surfaces and terrains.
The Henchman 1 Leg Adjustable Ladder is perfect for working on flat ground or on gentle slopes, and works especially well for indoor and patio use.
However, if you’re likely to be working on uneven ground, you’ll be better off with our 3 Leg Adjustable Tripod Ladder, or our Adjustable Platform Step Ladder. Both of these ladders are specifically designed for safety while working on uneven ground, as each leg is adjustable, counteracting all slopes, dips and steps.
We recommend you buy one of these ladders if you need to use your ladder for various jobs.
It’s really important to pick the right size ladder. Too tall and you’ll spend your time working on the lower rungs rather than the platform. Too short and you may be tempted to stretch up and over reach, causing imbalance and instability.
Please see the “What size ladder do I need?” section above these FAQs and you’ll find the help you need to choose the correct size ladder for you. If you’re still unsure, get in contact with us and we’ll be happy to help you find the right size.
Yes, if you order the wrong size, you’ll be able to exchange your ladder for a different size. However, there will be a £45 collection charge.
For more information on exchanging the wrong size ladder, please see the “Delivery and returns” section on this page.
An all-day delivery slot is free of charge if you’re ordering from mainland UK.
If you need a morning or Saturday delivery slot, this costs extra. Please get in touch to book this delivery option.
If you’re ordering from overseas, this also costs extra and depends on the country. Please get in touch with us before you order and we’ll advise you on the cost.
The rubber feet make your ladder easier to use inside and on hard surfaces.
Slide them onto the feet of the Tripod ladder and they will protect your floor from scratches and improve grip.
It’s important to always take the rubber feet off when working on soft ground or gravel, as the clawed aluminium feet are designed to dig into and grip the ground, preventing slipping or sinking.
