The new PRO ladder range offers a second platform rung in addition to the built-in platform you’ll find with all Henchman models. This means that you’re supported when working at the top of the ladder and lower down. Extra wide feet for wobble-free working

The last thing you want to worry about when working at height is wobbling. That’s why every Henchman tripod features extra wide feet with a large surface area. The larger surface area prevents sinking, and its clawed design minimises slippage.

If you’re using your ladder indoors or on hard surfaces, simply fit the rubber overshoes that are supplied free of charge with your order.

BSI’s EN131 Kitemark Certification tests all of the below:

EN131 - this is done in three parts. The first tests terms, types and functional sizes - such as the ladder’s dimensional requirements. The second part tests its strength and stability and the third part assesses its labelling, markings and user instructions. This is to make sure that users understand how to safely use their product.
Manufacturer audit - the manufacturer(s) of the ladders are audited according to relevant ISO standards, to assess production methods and processes, quality control, and ensure a safe working environment for their employees.
Henchman audit - This is the final step in the Kitemark process. It’s designed to ensure adequate quality control procedures while also protecting you, the customer, by ensuring we have a reliable management structure and business continuity plans.

As you can see, the Kitemark certification process is very thorough and provides full reassurance in regards to the quality of our business and products. When doing your research, look out for misleading wording about safety standards, such as “conforms to”, “tested to”, or “built to” EN131 standards, as these terms are used freely and do not always mean ladders have been fully tested. Selecting the right size Henchman ladder

Before ordering your ladder, be sure to consider the scope of your typical jobs and available space to ensure you order the correct size.

Note that, when we refer to the size of the ladder, we are referring to the total length when fully retracted, from top to bottom - as an example, 10ft is the full height of the 10ft ladder. They do not collapse down in height.

We always recommend that you work between shoulder and waist height. On the Fully Adjustable PRO Tripod, the platform is 3ft/0.9m from the top of the ladder, so your waist is in line with the top.

As an example, if the ladder is 6ft/1.8m, then your waist will be 6ft/1.8m from the ground. Generally, your shoulders are approximately 2ft/60cm higher than your waist. This means that you’ll have a working height range of 6-8ft/1.8-2.4m, shoulder to waist level.

So, if you need to reach 6-8ft/1.8-2.4m, then a 6ft/1.8m ladder is just what you need.

To avoid ordering the wrong sized ladder, it’s important you know exactly how high you need to reach before you order.

For example, if you’re using your ladder to trim hedges, we suggest picking one that’s more or less the same height as that hedge. Measuring the hedge height before you order will ensure you choose the right size.

Delivery & returns info

How much is delivery?

An all-day delivery slot is free of charge if you’re ordering from mainland UK.

If you’re ordering from overseas, this also costs extra and depends on the country. Please get in touch with us before you order and we’ll advise you on the cost.

When will my delivery arrive?

If you make your order before 12pm, we’ll aim to dispatch it on the same day (depending on stock availability).

Mainland UK orders take 2-5 working days. If your delivery is sent to offshore UK or Ireland, it can take up to 7 working days to arrive.

If you’re ordering from overseas, delivery times can vary between country and region. Please check the delivery time with us before you place your order.

Do I have to be at home to receive my order?

No, you don’t have to be at home to receive your order. Instead, you can request that your order is left in a safe place. You can do this by either:

entering a safe location into the delivery instructions when placing your order
calling the courier after you have received your dispatch email and providing instructions on where to leave the order

Please note that if you request for your order to be left unattended, you do so at your own risk. Your order will not be insured against theft or damage.

If you are out when the courier attempts to deliver and have not left instructions for your order to be left in a safe place, the courier will leave a card requesting you contact them.

The courier will also re-attempt your delivery the following day. If they are unable to deliver on three consecutive days, they may hold your order in their depot until you contact them as per the instructions on the missed delivery card.

If the courier leaves your order unattended and unsigned for without your written request, kindly inform us and we will investigate.

Free Returns & Exchanges

If you change your mind about your order within 14 days of delivery, you can return/exchange your unused ladder free of charge.

Simply get in contact with us to let us know you would like to return the ladder and we will arrange for the ladder to be collected and we will process the refund.

Or in the event of an exchange, refund the difference between the ladders or take payment for the difference depending on if moving up or down sizes. We will aim for the delivery and collection of the ladder to take place at the same time, but we cannot guarantee this.

If you let us know after 14 days, you may still return/exchange the unused ladder, however you will be charged a £45 collection charge.

I’ve received my order but it’s damaged. What can I do?

Please check your order for damage before accepting delivery. If you see that it’s damaged, please refuse the delivery and call us to let us know. We’ll arrange a replacement to be dispatched to you as soon as possible.

If you notice damage after accepting delivery, please call us to let us know as soon as possible. We may ask for photographs of the damage as proof. Once the damage is confirmed, we will arrange for the damaged item to be collected free of charge, and we’ll dispatch your replacement.

How do the Professional Tripod Ladders work?

It’s simple, really. Our Professional Tripod Ladders provide wobble-free stability because all three feet always remain in contact with the ground.

By adjusting each leg individually to counteract uneven ground, the Professional Tripod Ladders allows you to ensure that the rungs are always level. All three legs adjust by at least 18 inches (45cm) to allow you to work on all types of surfaces, including uneven and sloping terrain. The ladder’s claw-like feet add extra stability, and stop the ladder from sinking when used on soft ground.

The Professional Tripod Ladder’s standing platform provides a safe place for your feet while you work. You can also tuck your knees into the frame for extra stability, allowing you to use both hands safely as you work.

What are the benefits of the Professional Tripod Ladders?

Although similar to our standard tripod ladder model, our Professional Tripod Ladders are made from thicker aluminium and are built to better withstand regular use and transit. This makes them far more resistant to frequent use over the years. Plus, for businesses claiming back on VAT, the extra cost of our professional tripod ladder can be easily recovered.

Is the Henchman Professional Tripod Ladder EN131 certified?

Some of the clauses with EN131 require ladders to have four legs in order to be compliant. As tripod ladders have 3 legs, they do not fully comply.

However, our Professional Tripod Ladders pro tripod ladders do have a TUV certificate against relevant clauses from EN131. They are also tested by British Standards Institution (BSI) to conform to BS EN 131-2:2010+A2:2017.

Our Professional Tripod Ladders are also compliant with working at height regulations (WAHR), a body that focuses on consumers choosing the right ladder for the job.

Can I use the Professional Tripod Ladder indoors?

If you plan to use your ladder on hard surfaces or indoors, our Professional Tripod Ladders also work brilliantly when purchased with the optional rubber feet. These improve grip on flat hard surfaces and also protect delicate floors from being scratched by the clawed feet.

When working in customer’s properties, these feet are excellent for protecting your client's floors and patios from damage.

What’s the difference between the Henchman Tripod ladders and the Henchman Hi-Step Platform Ladders?

Both our tripod ladders and our platform step ladders are designed to be safe on uneven ground. Both have adjustable legs to counteract slopes, dips and steps, have a safe working load of 150kg, and are covered by our 5 year warranty.

The added benefits of our tripod ladders include a lighter weight due to their fully aluminium frame, making them easier to transport and move around. They are also faster to set up due to their spring pin leg adjustment mechanism. The Professional Tripod Ladders are made from even thicker aluminium and are built to better withstand regular use and transit. This makes them far more resistant to frequent use over the years.

The Adjustable Platform Ladder has a larger standing platform secured by a rear guard strap. It also has more height adjustment due to each leg extending to 2ft, plus an optional 3ft height extender on top of that. It also offers high levels of productivity, allowing you to increase your reach by leaning left and right on the waist high guard rail without risk of toppling.

What do the Rubber Feet do?

The rubber feet make your Professional Tripod Ladder easier to use inside and on hard surfaces.

Slide them onto the feet of the Professional Tripod Ladder and they will protect your customers floors and patios from scratches and marks, preventing complaints around damage to properties. The rubber feet also improve grip on the floor.

Please note that it’s important to always take the rubber feet off when working on soft ground or gravel, as the clawed aluminium feet are designed to dig into and grip the ground, preventing slipping or sinking.
