Fully adjustable legs for uneven ground
All four legs of our Henchman Hi-Step platform are adjustable, meaning that you’ll always have a flat, non-slip foundation to work on. Our legs can independently expand up to 60cm. However, this can increase to up to 1.5m with our Adjustable Platform Step Ladder Extender, no matter the original size of your ladder.
If you’re looking for complete flexibility when it comes to your working height, then our Hi-Step platform is the ladder for you. This ladder is tested by the British Standards Institution (BSI) and conforms with BS EN 131-2:2010+A2:2017, meaning that, with our Henchman Hi-Step aluminium garden ladders, you’ll experience professional safety when working at height.

Selecting the right size Henchman Hi-Step Platform Ladder
We designed our Hi-Step Ladder to be as flexible as possible. That’s why we offer multiple sizes for you to choose from.
Our largest size - the Henchman Hi-Step Maxi - has a working range of 3.0m to 4.2m.
On the other end of the scale, the working range of the Henchman Henchman Hi-Step Midi is 2.1m to 3.3m, while the Henchman Hi-Step Senior has a range of 2.4m to 3.6m.
Note that all measurements provided are with ladder legs fully retracted. The height of our ladder platforms is 0.9m below the overall height of the ladder, for example the Hi-Step Midi is 2.1m tall, the standing platform is at 1.2m.
To ensure you choose the right ladder size for you, you should know how high you need to reach before placing your order. For example, if you’re looking to trim a hedge, you will need a ladder that’s the same height as that hedge.

To avoid ordering the wrong sized ladder, it’s important you know exactly how high you need to reach before you order.
For example, if you’re using your ladder to trim hedges, we suggest picking one that’s more or less the same height as that hedge.

How do the Adjustable Platform Step Ladders work?
It’s simple, really. Our tripod ladders provide wobble-free stability because all three feet always remain in contact with the ground.
By adjusting each leg individually to counteract uneven ground, the Three Adjustable Leg Tripod ladder allows you to ensure that the rungs are always level. All three legs adjust up to 45cm to allow you to work on all types of surfaces, including uneven and sloping terrain. The ladder’s claw-like feet add extra stability, and stop the ladder from sinking when used on soft ground.
The tripod ladder’s standing platform provides a safe place for your feet while you work. You can also tuck your knees into the frame for extra stability, allowing you to use both hands safely as you work.
What are the benefits of the Adjustable Platform Step Ladders?
The main benefit of the Adjustable Platform Step Ladder is that it has more height flexibility than the tripod ladders. Each leg extends individually to 60cm, which can be increased by a further 90cm with the Platform Step Ladder Height Extender. This means it can be used for a variety of different jobs.
It also has a large standing platform that is secured by a rear guard strap, offering excellent security for working at heights. And lastly, it offers high levels of productivity. It allows you to increase your reach without having to move the ladder very often, letting you lean left and right on the guardrail without risk of toppling.
What’s the difference between the Henchman Tripod ladders and the Henchman Adjustable Platform Step Ladders?
Both the Henchman Tripod ladders and the Henchman Adjustable Platform Ladders are designed to be safe on uneven ground. Both have adjustable legs to counteract slopes, dips and steps and have a safe working load of 150kg.
The added benefits of the Adjustable Platform Ladder is that it has a larger standing platform secured by a rear guard strap. It also has more height adjustment due to each leg extending to 60cm, plus an optional 90cm height extender on top of that. It also offers high levels of productivity, allowing you to increase your reach by leaning left and right on the waist high guard rail without risk of toppling.
In contrast, our tripod ladders are lighter due to their fully aluminium frame, making them easier to transport and move around. They are also faster to set up due to their spring pin leg adjustment mechanism.
What size Adjustable Platform Step Ladder do I need?
It’s important to pick the right size ladder. If you choose a ladder that’s too tall, you’ll spend your time working on the lower rungs rather than from the platform. If you choose a ladder that’s too short, you may be tempted to stretch up and over reach, causing imbalance and instability.
However, the Adjustable Platform Step Ladders offer more flexibility when it comes to sizing.
