The Henchman 1 Adjustable Leg tripod ladder model can be safely used on flat or slightly sloping ground. The rear leg of the ladder can be individually adjusted to counteract slopes or steps, allowing you to work on your project safely and comfortably for longer periods of time. The ladder’s three feet keep you stable as long as all feet are touching the ground.

Selecting the right size 1 Adjustable Leg Tripod Platform Ladder
Choose the right size ladder by reading our advice below. Please note that when we refer to the ladder height, this means from the top of the guard rail to the feet.
Before you order your ladder, find out the height you’ll be working at. We always recommend working between shoulder and waist height level.
The platform on the Henchman 1 Adjustable Leg Tripod Platform Ladder is 0.9cm from the top. When you stand on the platform, the top of the ladder is level with your waist. So, say you have a 1.8m ladder, your waist will be at a height of 1.8m.
This means that, when working between waist and shoulder level, you’ll have a working height range of 1.8-2.4m. So, if you need to reach 1.8-2.4m when standing on a ladder, our 1.8m adjustable tripod ladder is the right size for you.
What size do I need?
All sizes provided are with the extendable legs fully retracted.
To avoid ordering the wrong sized ladder, it’s important you know exactly how high you need to reach before you order.
For example, if you’re using your ladder to trim hedges, we suggest picking one that’s more or less the same height as that hedge. Measuring the hedge height before you order will ensure you choose the right size.

How our sizing works
The height of our ladders is the total height from the very bottom to the very top of the ladder with the legs fully retracted. For example, our 1.8m ladder measures 1.8m tall.
The tripod ladder’s platform sits 0.9cm from the top of the ladder. When standing on this, the top of your ladder will be in line with your waist. That means, if you have a 1.8m ladder, your waist will also be at 1.8m.
Your shoulders will be approximately 60cm higher than your waist. We always recommend working between your waist and shoulder height. This will give you a working height range of 1.8-2.4m, waist to shoulder level.
So, if you need to reach between 1.8-2.4m, our 1.8m will suit your needs perfectly.

How does the 1-leg adjustable tripod ladder work?
It's actually quite simple. The 1-leg adjustable tripod ladder offers stability without wobbling, as all three feet always remain in contact with the ground.
By individually adjusting the rear foot, you can compensate for a slight inclination towards or away from your work area. The ladder's claw-like feet grip loose ground for greater stability and to prevent the ladder sinking.
The tripod ladder's support surface provides a safe place for your feet while you work. Slip your knees into the frame for added stability, allowing you to use both hands safely while you work.
Can I use the 1-foot adjustable tripod ladder indoors?
Yes, our single-leg adjustable tripod ladders work very well indoors the rubber feet improve grip on flat, hard surfaces and protect fragile floors from scratches caused by the ladder feet.
Do I need a ladder with three adjustable feet, or will a ladder with one adjustable foot suffice?
If you plan to use the ladder in your garden, we always recommend the 3-foot adjustable tripod ladder.
To be safe, all ladders (including the Henchman ladder) must be straight and level. But few gardens are perfectly flat. Most gardens have some degree of irregularity, from steep slopes to slight bumps.
The Henchman 3-foot adjustable tripod ladder is designed for virtually any terrain. So it's rare to find a terrain where you can't use your tripod ladder safely.
Single-leg adjustable tripod ladders, on the other hand, are designed for use on flat ground or facing a single, gentle slope. A tripod ladder with a single adjustable leg will not work if the slope is parallel to the area where you are working.
For example, if your garden faces up or down, but your hedges run along the left or right side of your garden, a single-leg adjustable ladder won't give you stability. In this case, you'll need a three-legged adjustable tripod ladder.
