Redesigned to give you even more adjustability, usability and stability, the Fully Adjustable Tripod Ladder features three independently manoeuvrable legs for use on any terrain. The extra rigidity on our new models keeps you safe whatever job you’re tackling.
Suitable for both outside and indoor use, each leg is independently adjustable to accommodate sloping surfaces, soft earth, and even stairways and steps, making jobs in tricky terrains a breeze. In fact, our tripod ladders can cope with level changes of up to 80% more than other tripod ladders on the market, so no task is out of reach.
Available in 5ft, 6ft, 8ft, 10ft and 12ft models, you can get to those hard-to-reach branches, greenhouse roofs and guttering so that every job is completed with ease. Its claw-like feet provide a solid grip into soft ground, so that you can complete tasks safely and securely come rain or shine.
We know that comfort and control are key when working at height. That’s why the 3-adjustable leg tripod ladder features a generous 18cm platform and increased guardrail height to give you plenty of space and support to work safely.
Simply place your feet firmly on the platform rung and tuck your knees into the frame, while leaning your body against the hip-height guard rail. This allows you to work in a secure position while providing increased comfort, greater freedom and more control.
Designed with your safety in mind, our Fully Adjustable Tripod Ladder features our new hedge-proof locking pin. To ensure that each leg is securely fixed in place without the risk of becoming dislodged by shrubbery or branches.
To adjust the legs, simply twist to release the handle, then pull to unlock the pin. When the handle is released, it will click back into place. When the handle is back in its closed position, the ladder legs are locked and ready to support you as you work.
Our new tripod range is certified to EN131 - the only tripods on the market in the UK and EU. This means that Henchman ladders go through rigorous testing to meet the standards of The British Standards Institution (BSI). Our ladders are tested by an independent third party, checking their stability, grip, dimensions, labelling and their 150kg working load.
When it comes to EN131 standards, you may see phrases like ‘conforms’, ‘tested’ or ‘built to’ EN131. However, these terms can suggest that the ladder is not fully tested - it could have the right dimensions but the working load may not have been safety tested, for example.

It’s important to consider the typical height you’ll be working at before ordering your tripod ladder. For example, if you’re going to use your ladder for hedge cutting, then first measure the hedge so you know what will best suit your requirements.
Note that, when we talk about ladder sizes, we’re referring to the bottom of the ladder to the top when fully retracted.
The platform rung on our Fully Adjustable Tripod Ladder is 3ft / 0.9cm from the top. This means that, when standing on the platform, the top of the ladder is level with your waist. For example, on a 6ft / 1.8m ladder, your waist is 6ft / 1.8m from the ground.
We recommend working between shoulder and waist height. As your shoulders are usually around 2ft/60cm higher than your waist, this gives you a working height range of 6-8ft/1.8-2.4m, from shoulder to waist.
If you’re going to be working between 6-8ft, our 6ft 1.8m ladder will do the job perfectly.

To avoid ordering the wrong sized ladder, it’s important you know exactly how high you need to reach before you order.
For example, if you’re using your ladder to trim hedges, we suggest picking one that’s more or less the same height as that hedge. Measuring the hedge height before you order will ensure you choose the right size.

All three legs adjust up to 18 inches (45cm) to allow you to safely work on all types of surfaces, including uneven and sloping terrain. The 3 Leg Adjustable Tripod Ladder’s standing platform provides a safe place for your feet while you work. You can tuck your knees into the frame for extra stability, allowing you to use both hands safely as you work.
If you’re planning to use the ladder in your garden, we always recommend the 3 Leg Adjustable Tripod Ladder.
That’s because in order to be safe, all ladders (including a Henchman ladder) need to be upright and level. Very few gardens are perfectly level. Most have a degree of unevenness, whether that’s steep slopes or gentle lumps and bumps.
The Henchman 3 Leg Adjustable Tripod Ladder is designed to cope with almost all terrain, so it is very rare that you’ll find somewhere where you can’t safely use one.
On the other hand, tripod ladders with just 1 adjustable leg are designed to be used on flat ground, or facing up or down a single planed gentle slope. A tripod ladder with 1 adjustable leg will not work if you have a slope parallel to the area where you’re working.
For example, if your garden faces up or down a hill, but your hedges run along the left or right hand sides of your garden, a one leg adjustable ladder won’t offer your stability. In this case, you’d need a three leg adjustable ladder.
Yes, you can use our 3 adjustable leg tripod ladder indoors.
In fact, they work brilliantly indoors when purchased with our optional rubber feet.
These feet improve grip on flat hard surfaces and also protect delicate floors from being scratched by the clawed feet.
If you’re planning to use your tripod ladder for professional purposes, such as landscape gardening or tree surgery, then we’d suggest our Professional 3-leg adjustable tripod platform ladder instead.
Although similar to our standard model, our professional model is made from thicker aluminium and is built to better withstand regular use and transit. This makes it far more resistant to frequent use over the years. Plus, for businesses claiming back on VAT, the extra cost of our professional tripod ladder can be easily recovered.
Both the tripod ladders and our platform step ladders are designed to be safe on uneven ground. Both have adjustable legs to counteract slopes, dips and steps, have a safe working load of 150kg, and are covered by our 5 year warranty.
The added benefits of our tripod ladders include a lighter weight due to their fully aluminium frame, making them easier to transport and move around. They are also faster to set up due to their spring pin leg adjustment mechanism.
However, the Adjustable Platform Ladder has a larger standing platform secured by a rear guard strap. It also has more height adjustment due to each leg extending to 2ft, plus an optional 3ft height extender on top of that. It also offers high levels of productivity, allowing you to increase your reach by leaning left and right on the waist high guard rail without risk of toppling.
The rubber feet make your ladder easier to use inside and on hard surfaces.
Slide them onto the feet of the Tripod ladder and they will protect your floor from scratches and improve grip.
It’s important to always take the rubber feet off when working on soft ground or gravel, as the clawed aluminium feet are designed to dig into and grip the ground, preventing slipping or sinking.
