If you’ve got trees and mature shrubs in your garden, you’ll know only too well just how difficult it can be to get up to the higher branches when the time comes to prune, trim or cut back. A Henchman arborist ladder provides the perfect solution when you need to work at height whilst based on the kind of uneven, sloping or unstable surface you’re likely to find in the average garden.
Unlike standard A-Frame ladders, the Henchman arborist ladder has three legs rather than two, offering maximum stability but a narrow, free-standing frame allowing access to smaller garden spaces. Constructed from lightweight yet durable aluminium, our ladders are robust, rust resistant and easy to transport from place to place. Able to take a maximum weight of between 100kg and 150kg depending on the model being used, these ladders have either one or three adjustable legs. They are able to cope with the softer surfaces present in gardens, and wider, ‘clawed’ feet that can grip ground like soil and grass to prevent slippage.
An arborist ladder isn’t simply about height and stability, however, since the design has been deliberately created to make it easier to work with sharp cutting tools using one or both hands.
The rungs of the ladder are large and grooved, providing optimum grip when climbing up and down. The middle of each ladder rung has been removed, providing a hollow structure which is lightweight and prevents the slip-risk caused by hazardous matter such as mud, moisture and leaves collecting on the rungs.
The traditional top rung of the ladder has been refashioned as a 7” platform, providing a safer and more comfortable space to stand. The space above the platform is set back to enable you to tuck your legs into the frame without and maximises leg room. At the very top of the ladder is a bracing rung which provides support when working at height. The brace can be held onto or leaned against when using both hands, making it safe to reach over vegetation with tools such as saws or secateurs.
