Henchman shows faith in innovation by appointing original designer as Managing Director

Fourteen years ago a sixteen year old inventor went to his father with the wooden prototype of a (then unknown) safe hedge cutting platform. Designed in school for a GCSE exam (which he passed!), this platform is the foundation on which the Henchman business now stands.
Such was the appeal to the market of this idea that Henchman now offers a choice of 23 different platforms and their combinations, of which there are well over 15,000 in use in the UK and Europe.
In 2007, Tom Kitching, the designer of the original prototype has been appointed general manager. Having started his business life in the workshop packing steel, he has worked in all areas of the business and continues to provide Henchman with innovative ideas for business growth and increased customer satisfaction.
His influence has given birth to the ‘Henchman Green Garden Range’. “We wanted to bring to market a range of products that complement our range of hedge cutting platforms, but more importantly allow the gardener to manage his / her immediate environment in a more self-sufficient and environmentally friendly manner” said Tom.
“I am extremely pleased to be managing director of Henchman at this time, when both the company and myself personally are developing knowledge and skills, as well as products, to assist in ‘green gardening’ by, amongst other things, turning garden waste into nutritious compost and conserving and re-using water.”
Henchman’s Green Garden Range consists of: Hedge cutting platforms, Barrow Trailers, ComposTumblers, Shredder Chippers and Water barrows.
